I created this blog to provide an opportunity for you to see how Africa, Uganda and other countries were represented at The New York Times Travel Show earlier this year. The only representative from Uganda was Pearl Hoareau from Uganda Travel Bureau. Pearl had an exhibit at “Focus on Africa”, but not at the NY Times Travel Show.
This is a two day consumer and travel trade show. Prior to the start of the show, APTA (Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa) hosts a "Focus on Africa" seminar. Various countries, airlines, non-profits, and tour operators (usually one that sells to all of Africa) will present. This year's show was well attended by travel agents. After the seminar, guest could visit the "Focus on Africa" exhibitors consisting mainly of tour operators. The "Focus on Africa" pre-show seminar and exhibit ends once the Travel Show begins. Sylvia from Uganda Tourism is currently seeking interested tour operators to participate in the Uganda exhibit at "Focus on Africa". I'm not sure if she is also coordinating an exhibit at the actual trade show as well.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Have a great day!
